Melissa Ko is a Financial expert and Managing Member and Chief Investment Officer of Covepoint Capital Advisors, LLC. She brings over 20 years of professional experience to the finance and hedge fund sectors. Her extensive experience with some of the nation’s best funds has led Melissa to become known as a leader in her industry. Covepoint Capital Advisors, LLC, a privately held hedge fund, which is based in New York City, New York. At its peak, Covepoint Capital Advisors LLC managed more than $2.4 billion in funds. Melissa originally founded the Fund during her tenure as Senior Managing Director at Bear Stearns, before spinning it out and relaunching it as Covepoint Capital Advisors, LLC in 2008. In 2013, Melissa and Covepoint made the move to return to external capital, and made the transition from a hedge fund to a family office. Melissa made the transition after realizing her desire to take longer term investment views an in environment that had become increasingly focused on short-term results, as well as intention to use more leverage and take more risks. The transition was also in response to increasingly burdensome regulatory requirements.
Melissa Ko also has extensive history working in trader and investor Emerging Markets, an industry she originally work in during the early 1990’s. To give a background of Melissa’s work history, she began her professional career working in trading positions at Citibank and Abn-Amro. She would go on to work as a Director at Deutsche Bank. She was in charge of Energy Marketing Currencies Proprietary Trading, and was the Head of Latin American Currency Desk at Bankers Trust. She began working as a Partner for Blue Border Partners, an Emerging Markets Hedge Fund from 2000-2002. Melissa Ko is also a big fan of New York City, where the current works and lives. She is a big fan of trying new restaurants through the City, and loves seeing all of the art that the City and its residents have to offer. Melissa is also a member of the MIT Corporation Development Committee and also serves on the boards at the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church and the Metropolitan Opera.
